Make in India is going to be huge. I’m reminded of this fact as I walk though London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 and see the now familiar Make in India lion poised proudly on the display screens.
I’m on my way to Mumbai as part of the University’s Edinburgh Global Pop-Up events – a fortnight long series of exciting workshops, lectures, talks, demonstrations and discussions involving more than 20 of our academics and many more students and alumni. On Sunday I’ll attend the Make in India’s CNN Business Forum – a gathering of some of the most influential movers and shakers from India and beyond, united by the ambition to innovate, educate, create and develop partnerships with people across India. It is a genuine thrill to be involved in an event of such scale and importance as Make in India….not forgetting our own Pop-Up, of course!
You may already have come face to face with the Make in India lion – a logo which symbolises so much of what I have found to be true of India: power and pride; courage and enlightenment. As a University, we have built strong partnerships in India because of these very assets and over the next two weeks, we will develop our partnerships even further. It’s set to be an exciting week! Next stop, Mumbai.
